May Coffee of the Month: Bolivia - COOP Agricola Cafetalera San Juan
Meet our May Coffee of the Month from Caranavi, Bolivia—sourced from the dedicated farmers of Cooperativa Agrícola Cafetalera San Juan. Grown at 1500 meters in rich clay loam soil, this fully washed and sun-dried coffee brings together Typica, Caturra, and Catua varieties into a beautifully balanced medium roast. In the cup, you’ll find comforting notes of cocoa and caramel layered with subtle fruity undertones, all wrapped in a smooth, creamy body and lifted by a bright, clean acidity that keeps each sip lively.
Behind every cup is a story of resilience and renewal. Founded in 1974, San Juan has long supported small, organic family farms, and today it’s experiencing a powerful resurgence under the guidance of Felix Chambi Garcia. With a renewed focus on quality and careful processing—from hand-selecting ripe cherries to meticulous fermentation and drying—this cooperative is helping redefine Bolivia’s specialty coffee potential. This is more than just a great cup—it’s a glimpse into the future of a region rising again
