July Coffee of the Month:

Papua New Guinea: Paraka Koi Natural

This month's featured coffee takes you to the lush, volcanic highlands of Papua New Guinea, where coffee is still grown much the way it has been for generations. Produced by small family farms in the remote Waghi Valley and carefully processed through the Ulya Mill, this exceptional natural-process coffee showcases the incredible flavors that can emerge when quality and care come together.

Roasted to a smooth medium profile, every cup offers vibrant notes of blueberry and plum, balanced by the comforting warmth of spiced apple cider, rose, nutmeg, and rich chocolate. The full natural process allows the fruit to dry around the coffee bean, creating a sweeter, more complex cup with a silky body and lingering finish.

What makes this coffee especially meaningful is the story behind it. Most coffee farms in Papua New Guinea are only a few acres in size, and many producers have little access to processing equipment or transportation. Through the work of Monpi Coffee Exporters, more than 1,000 smallholder farmers now have access to centralized processing, improved quality control, and direct connections to specialty coffee buyers around the world. These investments not only produce exceptional coffee but also help farming families earn better incomes while preserving traditional growing methods.

Grown at elevations of 1,500–1,700 meters in nutrient-rich volcanic soils, this coffee is a beautiful example of why specialty coffee is worth seeking out. It's bright, fruit-forward, naturally sweet, and unlike anything you'll find on a grocery store shelf.

If you enjoy adventurous coffees with bold fruit flavors and a smooth chocolate finish, July's Coffee of the Month is one you won't want to miss.
